A dry crisp Sunday morning set the scene for the Gosport Half marathon. There was a good turn out of Romsey Runners with 8 taking part. Conditions for runners were near perfect, little wind, cool and dry. The course is flat and provided a number of runners with personal bests. First Romsey man home was Jimmy Hunt in 1:19:38; first Romsey lady was Lynda Brown in 1:37:31, both PBs.
They were followed by Hannah White 1:41:19 (PB), Frank Ourique 1:48:23, Paul Bradley 1:49:33, George Wysocki 1:56:59, Alice Lane 2:01:48 and Dave Evenden finishing his first half marathon in 2:19:11.
On the same day, Romsey Runner Gill Callus headed for Spain to complete the Valencia 10K in 64 minutes. The 10k is run alongside the marathon, “it was the most amazing start and finish, which more than made up for the slightly boring run through the residential area of Valencia. I must say the bands and support and not forgetting the dance at 5K also helped, but were no good for my time!” said Callus.
Frank Ourique and George Wysocki also recently took part in the British Heart Foundation Midnight Brighton Half Marathon. The event started at Kings Road Arches, Brighton Seafront and did as suggested, took runners through the town at midnight. Frank finished in 1:58:27 and George a little behind in 2:21:23.
